Douglas Lee Bower

Douglas “Doug” Lee Bower, age 60, of Gettysburg, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at this home in Gettysburg. He was born May 20, 1963 in Gettysburg, as the son of the late Donald Wayne and Shirley Marie (Finfrock) Bower.

Doug graduated in Class of 1982 Biglerville High School. He went onto serve for seven years in the US Army National Guard during Desert Storm. He retired as a working Township Supervisor for Butler Township after working 40 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #262 in Biglerville. In his spare time, Doug enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and spending time with his family.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 40 years and high school sweetheart, Carol Ann (Mock) Bower of Gettysburg; two daughters, Casey Ann Slaybaugh and her husband, Matthew of Aspers and Kayla Renee Black and her husband, John, Jr. of Biglerville; son, Dustin Lee Bower and his girlfriend, Kristina Drechsler of Gettysburg; two brothers, Wayne Bower and his wife, Sharon and Ricky Bower and his wife, Kathy, both of Biglerville; thirteen grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by sister, Cathy (Bower) Kime and his grandson, Ethan Slaybaugh.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 7:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., Bendersville with his grandson, Trek Weigle officiating. A Public Viewing will take place from 5:00 PM until the time of the service.
