Duane David Eckert, age 77 of Arendtsville, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 in Chambersburg. He was born Saturday, February 3, 1940 in Gettysburg, the son of the late Edwin and Anna (Shoap) Eckert. He was a 1958 graduate of Biglerville High School. Duane was self-employed his entire life. He owned Eckert's Sunoco service station in Biglerville. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Margaret "Peggy" (McCleaf) Eckert; children, Todd Eckert of Dillsburg and his children, Joel, Erin, and Jared; Tracy Thomas (Donnie) of Gardners and their children, Devin and Tyler; Thad Eckert (Becky) of Orrtanna and their child, Madison; Ethan Eckert (Kristie) of Catonsville, MD and their child, Autumn and a child due in September; and Emily Gardner (Scott) of Richlands, NC and their child, Grace. He is also survived by his great-grandchild, Lucas, sister, Carol Clapsaddle (Barry), niece, Koren Garfinkle, nephew, Craig Clapsaddle (Kristin), and his first wife, Mary Lou Eckert. He was preceded in death by his son, Troy Eckert. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 38 N. High Street, Arendtsville with Pastor Ben Stone officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to The Kidney Foundation of Central Pennsylvania, 1500 Paxton Street, Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17104.
