Edgar "Eddie" William Brandt

Edgar, “Eddie”, William Brandt, age 84, Gettysburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, surrounded by his family at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home in Gettysburg. He was born December 30, 1939 in Carlisle, PA, as the son of the late Nesbur, Sr. and Edith (Fickel) Brandt.


Eddie attended Boiling Springs High School and retired from Motts, Inc. after working there as a Lift Truck Operator for 45 years. He was a member and trustee of Wenksville United Methodist Church as well as a choir member. Eddie was one of the past Fire Chief’s for Aspers Fire Company and a past President of the Fire Chief Association. In his spare time, Eddie enjoyed hunting, spending time with the church and singing in the choir and was a Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. Eddie was known by the Aspers community as the man on the swing that would wave at you as you drove by. Many remarked how it made their day.


Edgar is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Mae (Taylor) Brandt of Gettysburg; daughter, Debra Flook and her husband, Michael of Gettysburg; son, David Brandt and his wife, Trish Parr-Brandt of New Market, MD; five grandchildren, Kyle Flook, Jenna Flook, Abbot Brandt, Madison Brandt and Ellie Smith and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his twin brother, Rodney E. Brandt, who passed on February 12, 2020 and his step-brother, Nesbur Brandt, Jr.


Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Following Eddie’s wishes, there will be no services.


Memorial contributions may be made in Eddie’s memory to Wenksville United Methodist Church, 2010 Wenksville Road, Biglerville, PA 17307. Friends may express online condolences at www.DuganFH.com.
