Edna L. Redding

September 27, 1930 — February 15, 2025

Edna L. (Emlet) Redding, age 94, of Fayetteville, formerly Aspers, PA, entered into God’s eternal care on February 15, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Melvin & Frances (Miller) Emlet.

Edna attended Biglerville High School and had various jobs while still in school. She worked at a tile factory, in a hospital laundry room and also did seasonal work. After leaving high school she worked at G.C. Murphy Store and in a nursing home for a while. She then began working as a waitress at Ernie’s Texas Lunch in Gettysburg where she met her husband-to-be, Donald, who she married on February 18, 1950. After they married, she worked for the C.H. Musselman Co./Knouse Foods for 17 years and assisted her husband in various ways helping to run their 30+ acre farmette in Aspers.

In later years she drove an LIU Van for Jacoby Transportation for 10 years and was heard to say, “It was the best job I ever had!” She enjoyed the people she worked with and the children she drove to and from school each day. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends. Edna always loved the St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Orrtanna, PA and was an active member in various ways. She served as a Special Minister of the Eucharist and volunteered to the residents at South Mountain Restoration Center.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her daughter, Teresa (Redding) Quigley; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Carey) Redding and sister, Laura (Emlet) Gatten. She is survived by her remaining children; Mike and Barb (Eicholtz) Redding, Gardners, Roxanne (Redding) and Richard “Dick” Dennis, Fayetteville, Dave and Michele (Myers) Redding, Biglerville, Mark and Janet (Miller) Redding, York, Joe and Betty (Eyler) Redding, Emmitsburg, and son-in-law, Dan Quigley.
