Edward L. Weigle, age 89 of Gettysburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, November 29, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Friday, December 7, 1928 in Gettysburg, the son of the late Frank L. and Ethel M. (Crist) Weigle. Ed graduated from Biglerville High School in 1947. He retired from Roadway Express after 18 years of service. He had also driven for R.F. Truesdale for 15 years. From 1970 - 1978, he owned and operated Weigle's Store in Heidlersburg. He was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg. He was a charter member of the Heidlersburg Fire Company and a member of the Eagles of Carlisle and the Adams County Fish and Game. Ed served two terms as a Tyrone Township Supervisor. His wife Margaret M. (Adams) Weigle passed away in 2014. He is survived by three daughters, Susan M. and husband Wayne Hess of Dallastown, Cynthia S. and husband Michael Smith of Aspers, Linda L. Rodgers of Gettysburg, three sons, Ronald E. and wife Mary Weigle of Biglerville, Kenneth P. and wife Denise Weigle of York Springs, Thomas A. and wife Sarah Weigle of Hanover, grandchildren; Christopher, Brandon and Joshua Hess, Chad Smith, Andy Weigle, Brett and Shane Hayes, Teri Memo Trejo and Daniel Overbaugh, Melissa and Erin Weigle, Kirsten Leer, Allyson and Collin Weigle, and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special nephew and his family; Keith and wife Wendi Weigle and sons Rodney and Harley. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ecker, grandson Gregory Lynn Hess, sons-in-law, Fred Ecker and John Rodgers; two brothers and one sister. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 3, at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York Street, Gettysburg with Reverend Michael Allwein officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 2 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and on Monday at the church from 9:30 AM until time of services.
