Elaine Rosario Uglow

Elaine Rosario Uglow, 74, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away on April 18, 2023, after suffering a series of strokes and other complicated medical conditions. Elaine was born on February 27, 1949, to Antonio and Ana Rosario in Agana, Guam. She was the much-cherished only daughter of nine children.

Elaine graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Tamuning, Guam. In 1970, Elaine met Mike Uglow in Agana, Guam. Elaine and Mike went on to raise two daughters, AnneMarie Byerly and Victrinia Ridgeway. After moving to Washington State in 1979, Elaine became a Clerk Typist at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and worked there for many years. Elaine was also a Volunteer EMS-Lieutenant/Emergency Medical Technician for Fire Protection District #3 in Grapeview, WA. She served with her spouse and both of her daughters. After retiring from the Shipyard, Elaine spent her time doting on her grandchildren, playing hours-long card games with her family and friends, enjoying garage sales, and making her famous lumpia and shrimp patties.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Ana Rosario and her brothers, Jesus, Edward, Rudy, and Albert Rosario. She is survived by her spouse, Mike Uglow; daughters, AnneMarie Byerly and Victrinia Ridgeway; sons-in-law, Grant Byerly and Eric Ridgeway and brothers, Fred, William, John and Tony Rosario. She is also survived by her grandsons, Zachary and Isaiah Byerly; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Oliviana, LeiaMae, and Henry Byerly; daughter-in-law, Aly Byerly and Zachary’s significant-other, Chanel Langley.

Elaine was a tiny woman of immense dignity and presence. She was the foundation that kept her family knitted together with love, and she will be missed for her effervescent laughter and beautiful smiles. She inspired deep love and devotion in her family and friends.
