Ellen J. Blocher

Ellen J. Blocher, age 81 of Gardners, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at her home. She was born Tuesday, July 7, 1931 in Danville, the daughter of the late Daniel N. and Anna (Gerringer) Williams. Ellen graduated from York Springs High School in 1949. She was employed by Bermudian Springs High School as a library assistant for 10 years. She was a member of Chapel Hill Church of God and a Sunday school teacher. She was also a 4 H and Girl Scout leader. She was a past president of the Women of the Church of God and WCTU. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald E. Blocher. She is also survived by two daughters: Jeanne L. and husband Brian Heinen of Cedar Grove, NC and Susan M. and husband Ray Smart of Gardners; two sons: David G. and wife Claudia Blocher of Brattleboro, VT and Timothy W. and wife Michelle Blocher of Fort Wayne, IN; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Alice Reinecker of York Springs, and a brother, George G. Williams of Anderson, IN. She was preceded in death byan infant son, Daniel, in 1956 and a brother, Daniel N. Williams, Jr. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 21 at Chapel Hill Church of God, 4495 Oxford Road,York Springs with Reverend Randall Huber officiating.
