Ernest F. Helm, age 91, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born Thursday, November 22, 1923 in Mainsville, the son of the lateBenjamin andEttaHelm. Ernest retired from the US Army after 25 years of service, having attained the rank of sergeant. He then began working at Derose Industries in Chambersburg and retired from there after 25 years of service. After his retirement from DeRose, he began the construction of Tiny World. This became his passion that he continued up until his passing. He will be remembered for the beautiful Christmas displays at Tiny World. Ernie also loved to camp, watching western movies and was an avid reader. While serving in the Army, he fought in World War II and Korea. His wife, Mary (Henry) Helm passed away in 1991. He is survived by his daughter, Donna J. and husband Wendell Myers of Shippensburg, four grandchildren: Bobby Lawyer of Waynesboro, Wendell Myers, Jr. of Shippensburg, Megan and husband Corey Brindle of Chambersburg and Shannon Myersof Chambersburg; four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Anna Kelley. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Lawyer and nine siblings. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7, at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Frank Mathna officiating. Interment will be in Parklawns MemorialGardens, Chambersburg. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to 365 Hospice, LLC, 2300 Bartan Way, Suite 240, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
