Esther (Leatherman) Harman, age 102, formerly of Mummasburg, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Cross Keys Village Brethren Home in New Oxford. She was born Wednesday, September 23, 1914 in Adams County, the daughter of the late Roy and Nellie (Wagaman) Leatherman. Esther and her late husband, Harry, owned and operated Harman's Grocery in Mummasburg. She also worked at C.H. Musselman Co. and the Gettysburg Times. She was a devoted member of the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Harman (1992), son, Ronald H. Harman (2014), and sister, Myrtle Leatherman. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Harriet Harman, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville.Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 19, at the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, 1710 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg with Pastors Patricia Arendt, Dick Godfrey, and Merle Bievenour, Sr. to serve as officiants. Memorial contributions may be made to Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, 1710 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325 and Good Samaritan Fund at the Brethren Home, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
