Eugene C. Pitzer

Eugene C. Pitzer, age 90, formerly of Biglerville, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Village of Laurel Run in Fayetteville. He was born Wednesday, July 30, 1924 in Menallen Township, Adams County, the son of the late Harvey and Leila A. (Culp) Pitzer Shinn. Eugene graduated from Arendtsville Vocational High School in 1941. He was a fruit farmer his entire life. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Arendtsville, Life Member of the Arendtsville Fire Company and Bobby's Run Hunting Camp in Cameron County, and a member of Buchanan Valley Rod and Gun Club, where he had served on the board of directors. His wife Lorraine E. (Snyder) Pitzer passed away in 2011. He is survived by his son, Gerald E. and wife Sandra K. Pitzer of Biglerville, three grandchildren, Shelley and husband Bradley Rex of Abbottstown, Brian and wife Melissa McGough Pitzer of Spring Grove, Emily and husband Ross Unruh of Adamstown, eight great-grandchildren, Jaren, Graham, and Trenten Rex, Brady and Olivia Pitzer, R. Cooper, Parker and Madelyn Unrugh, one niece, Judy Fox of Gettysburg and one nephew, Larry Snyder of Hanover. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Pitzer and brother Donald Pitzer. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 17 at Zion United Church of Christ, 3 Gettysburg Street, Arendtsville with Reverend Dr. Kim Blocher officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of services.
