Floyd "Chub" Moats

Floyd R. "Chub" Moats, age 78, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born Sunday, June 5, 1938 in Waynesboro, the son of the late Robert and Myra V. (Zeek) Moats. Floyd graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1956. He was formerly employed by G.C. Murphy in Shippensburg for thirty-five years and by Hoffman Mills for close to fifteen years. He also worked part-time at Weis Markets for eleven years. He was a member of Shippensburg First Wesleyan Church. His passion was bowling. He bowled for more than fifty years in several different leagues in the Chambersburg and Shippensburg area. He helped coach little league softball in the Shippensburg area for several years. His wife, Patricia A. (Stouffer) Moats passed away in 2015. He is survived by his daughter, Stacey N. and Andrew Parson of Burnt Cabins, four sons, Stephan R. and wife Kim Moats of Frisco, TX, Joel M. and wife Danielle Moats of Shippensburg, Gregory A. and wife Jennifer Moats of Chambersburg, Brenton L. and wife Michele Moats of Olympia, WA, eight grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Julianne, Greta, Emma, Jordan, Nicholas and Zachary and a brother, Ronald and wife Donna Moats of Scotland. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Spring Hill Cemetery with Reverend John Inglin officiating. A viewing will be held on Wednesday April 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Shippensburg First Wesleyan Church, 593 Walnut Bottom Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
