Fred E. Strickhouser, Jr., age 78, of Gardners died onMonday, January 17, 2011 at Green Acres Nursing and Rehab. He was born Friday, May 6, 1932 in Mount Joy Township, Adams County, the son of the late Fred E. and Bertha N. (Flickinger) Strickhouser, Sr. Fredwas formerly employed by Duffy Motts, Cadbury Inc. in Aspers for 40 years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Brethren Church in Guernsey, Biglerville American Legion Post 262, Gettysburg Battlefield Detachment, Marine Corps League and Adams County Fish and Game. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart while in action. He is survived by his wife Faye E. (Murtorff) Strickhouser to whom he was married for 55 years. He is also survived by threedaughters: Patricia A. Leisinger, York Springs, Joanne E. Sease, Gettysburg, Stephanie M. Reever, Gettysburg; threesons: Larry E. Strickhouser, Biglerville, Richard E. Strickhouser, York Springs, Robert O. Strickhouser, Aspers; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Franchot Strickhouser, Biglerville and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary L. Strickhouser who died in 1996. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 20 at Dugan Funeral Home,Bendersville with the Reverend Craig Loewen officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery with military services provided by Adams County Allied Veterans. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 19 at the funeral home.
