Fremont S. Kuntz, age 96 of Gardners, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 surrounded by his family at his Gardners home. He was born Saturday, February 5, 1916 in Menallen Township, the son of the late Parker L. and Anna Mae (Taylor) Kuntz. Fremont graduated from Biglerville High School. He was a field man and apple buyer for C. H. Musselman Company for a number of years before becoming a full time fruit grower.He owned and operated Kuntz Orchards for 62 years. He was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and served as Sunday School Superintendant for several years, and on the church council. He served 25 years on the Board of Directors at Knouse Foods, Inc., was a past president of Adams Co. Fruit Growers Assoc. and Adams Co. Farmers Assoc., helped to start and organize the Apple Blossom Festival. He was chosen the Master Farmer in 1966. He was a member of the State Horticulture Assoc and was named Outstanding Farmer in 1998. Fremont is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Ethel G. (Tuckey) Kuntz. He is also survived by two daughters: Carol L., and husband Leonard Lobaugh, Linda M., and husband Jay Murtoff; three sons: Jarius F., and wife Diana Kuntz, Louy P., and wife Bonnie Kuntz, and Dean A., and wife Karen Kuntz, all of Gardners; 10 grandchildren: Kevin Kuntz, who has preceded him in death; Tami Harbold, Len Lobaugh, Traci Black; Tad Kuntz, Melanie Storm; Jodi Kresge, Jeff Murtoff; Terry Kuntz, Stacy Kuntz, Randy Kuntz. He is survived by 23 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Jeanette Group of Aspers, one brother, Frederic Kuntz of Gardners. Fremont was preceded indeath by two sisters: Violet Showers and Regina Fetters; two brothers:Arthur Kuntz and Marshall Kuntz. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday September 28 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 126 Church Street, Bendersville with Rev. Robert S. McEllroy III officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday, September 27th from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home.
