Galen S. Book

Galen S. Book, age 81, of Doylesburg, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at Hershey Medical Center. He was born Saturday, March 30, 1935 in Doylesburg, the son of the late Harry R. and Mary E. (Junkin) Book. Galen graduated from Dry Run High School. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot after 12 years of service. He was formerly employed by DeRose Industries in Chambersburg, American Can Company in Chambersburg, and also by PennDot. He attended Doylesburg United Methodist Church. Galen loved to raise vegetables in his garden and tend to his fruit trees. He also loved to hunt deer and go trout fishing. Galen was a history buff and enjoyed Bible studies. He served in the US Army entering into service in 1957 and was discharged in 1959. During his tour of duty, he was stationed in Korea. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cassie J. (Clippinger) Book, his daughter, Esther M. Parsons and companion Charlie Brown of Dry Run, two sisters, Geraldine Felmlee of Dry Run and Mary Alleman, AL. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 17, at Doylesburg United Methodist Church, 22245 Main Street, Doylesburg, with Pastor DeAnn Newhouse officiating. A viewing will be held on Friday at the church from 1:00 PM until time of services.
