Gary A. Johnston

Gary A. Johnston, age 80 of Shippensburg, passed away June 25, 2024 at Carlisle Skilled Nursing. He was born October 20, 1943 in Towanda, the son of the late Alex A. and Margaret (Wanagitius) Johnson.

Gary was an associate business planner for IBM in Mechanicsburg, a US Army veteran and a member of Mt. Rock United Methodist Church. He was also the Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #115 in Walnut Bottom.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hope M. (Walters) Johnston of Shippensburg; son, Gary A. Johnston, II of Shippensburg; daughters, Crystal Frye of Boiling Springs and Candace Johnston of Shippensburg; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two sisters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until time of Services. Pastor Resa Schrack will officiate the service. Gary will be laid to rest at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle with Military Honors provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
