Gary L. Showers

Gary L. Showers, Sr., age 70 of Aspers, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home. He was born Saturday, August 11, 1945 in Menallen Township, Adams County, the son of the late Marlin J. and Dorothy H. (Kuhn) Showers. Gary graduated from Biglerville High School in 1963. He graduated from Univ. of PA Hospital in Philadelphia as a radiology technician and worked at the Gettysburg Hospital as an x-ray technician for 15 years. He owned and operated his fruit farm and tended market at Jim's Country Market in Chambersburg for many years. He also attended Gratz, Rutz and Hometown Country Markets. He was a member of Wenksville United Methodist Church and the Adams County Fruit Growers Assoc. He loved Ford Mustangs and spending time in his greenhouse. He is survived a daughter, Paula R. and husband Michael Hromyak of Tamaqua, two sons, Gary L., Jr. and wife Laura Showers, of Biglerville, Matthew J. and wife Tianna Showers of York Haven, eight grandchildren, Justin, Kelsey and Jacob Showers, Alexa and Rebekah Hromyak, Kylie Magaro, Paige Showers and Avery Showers, one sister, Mary A. Keller of Walkersville, MD, two brothers, James Showers of Aspers and Walter Showers of Arendtsville. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Kayla Showers and brother Marlin E. Showers. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, June 24 at Dugan Funeral Home, Bendersville with Reverend Rick Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Wenksville Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Dugan Funeral Home on Thursday, June 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
