Gene D. Helman, Sr.

Gene D. Helman Sr., of Shippensburg, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at the age of 85 at Transitions Healthcare Shook Home in Chambersburg. Born on November 8, 1940, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Gene was the son of the late Ralph M. Helman and Ada E. (Harshman) Helman.

Gene dedicated many years to his profession as a machine operator at Landis Machine. In his personal life, Gene enjoyed the freedom of motorcycle rides and took great pleasure in traveling to Florida, where he cherished moments spent with family and friends.

Gene is survived by his sons, Gene Helman Jr., Chester Helman, Waylon Helman, Ralph Helman; one daughter, Niki Summers; 9 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his second wife, Bonnie Helman; and one granchild, Tony "Adam" Summers.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 51 Asper Drive in Shippensburg. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Lincoln Cemetery, 948 Lincoln Way E., Chambersburg, PA 17201. Family and friends are invited to gather and share stories and memories of Gene.
