George A. Flenner

George A. Flenner, 85, Fairfield died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Manor Care Nursing and Rehab, Chambersburg. He was born Saturday, April 18, 1925 in Fairfield, the son of the late Albert and Nellie (Wantz) Flenner. George had been employed by U. S. Postal Service in Fairfield for 35 years as a rural mail carrier. After retirement from the postal service, he worked for the Gettysburg Times for many years. He was a member of the Orrtanna United Methodist Church and Fairfield Fire Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed his plants. He was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Dallas Cowboys.George served in the US Army for four years during WWll. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis J. (Cornwell) Flenner who died in 2003. He issurvived by his daughter, Vickie Arrington and husband Glenn of Orrtanna; three grandsons, Derek Flenner of Emmittsburg, Brian Dean and wife Jeanette of Greencastle and Troy Dean and wife Jessie of Gettysburg; granddaughter Michelle Hughart and husband Michael of New Oxford; three beautiful great-granddaughters Ariana and Kierra Hughart and Corinne Dean; three sisters Ruth Adelsberger of Biglerville, Loretta McGlaughlin of Fairfield and Dolly Hardman and husband Arthur of Fairfield. George was preceded in death by a son, Doug A. Flenner who died in 2010 and a daughter Bonnie P. Baker who died in 2000. He was also preceded in death by his sister Alice Dick andhis brother, John Flenner. Memorial services will be held Wednesday October 6 at 11:00 am at Orrtanna United Methodist Church. 1717 Carrolls Tract Road, Orrtanna, with the Reverend Kim Phillips officiating. A luncheon will follow at 12:00 noon in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens at the discretion of the family. Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
