George E. Carey, age 87, of Arendtsville, passed away October 21, 2023 at Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville. He was born April 26, 1936 in Fairfield to the late Carl A. and Marian E. (Hare) Carey.
George was a farm manager for Peters Orchards, a US Army veteran and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg. He was also a member of the Apple Core Band, the Blue and Gray Band, the Gettysburg Big Band, an honorary member of the Upper Adams Jaycees, a life member of the Arendtsville Fire Company and was a member of the Ira E. Lady American Legion Post 262.
George is survived by his brother, Carl A. Carey of Deltona, FL; sister, Janet C. Bretzman of Gettysburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville, where a viewing will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00PM. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10AM at the funeral home. Pastor Ron Parr will officate. George will be laid to rest at Greenmount Cemetery, Arendtsville, with military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans.
