George R. Stine, Sr.

George R. Stine, Sr., age 77 of Shippensburg, went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 7, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Monday, November 11, 1935 in Chambersburg, the son of the late Amos E. and Katie E. (Shaffer) Stine. George was employed by Kraft/General Foods for 35 years and also at Signature Cabinetry. He was a member of Trinity Episopal Church and American Legion Post 223 in Shippensburg. He loved to walk the Chambersburg Mall, was an avid hunter, loved to watch Nascar Races and Wrestling. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. He is survived by his wife, Peggy L. (Upperman) Stine to whom he was married for 56 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Virgina (Ginny) L. and husband Robert Frehn of Walnut Bottom, a son, George R. husband of Susan Stine, Jr. of Saint Thomas, a sister: Hazel Glass of Chambersburg, one brother: Merle husband of Ruth Stine of Saint Thomas, five grandchildren Robert L. Frehn III, Sean M. Frehn, Amy S. Stine, Ashley L. Christman and Arin R. Rotz, eleven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Sophie. He was preceded in death by one son, Steven R. Stine who passed in 2005, two brothers: Grover and Albert Stine, and two sisters: Mabel Wible and Catherine Stoner. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg.Funeral Services will be held Thursday October 10 at 1:00 PM with the family welcoming friends from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory with The Reverend PatrickPeirce officiating. Please feel free to come in casual dress. Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 S. Second Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Avenue,Chambersburg, PA 17201.
