George Wallace Thompson, age 75 of Gardners, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at The Gardens of Gettysburg in Gettysburg. He was born Sunday, February 21, 1943 in Philadelphia, the son of the late Wallace Thomas and Minnie Viola (Updegrove) Thompson. George was a huge history buff loving to talk about all aspects of history. He grew up in Philadelphia and for all his life he loved Philadelphia sports, the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers. George was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He loved spending time at the camp with his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. George proudly served in the United States Navy. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Susan (Rhinehart) Thompson, son, Matthew Thompson (Katie) of Carlisle, daughters, Amy Marsh (Bryan Kuhn) of Mt. Holly Springs and Kristy Jewett (Matthew) of Carlisle, grandchildren, Trystan Kuhn, Masyn Kuhn and Jeffery Thompson. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 12 at 7:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home with Pastor Stuart Johns officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Idaville United Brethren in Christ Church, 3590 Carlisle Road, Gardners, PA 17324.
