George W. Weaver, Jr.

George W. Weaver, Jr. age 78, of Aspers passed away January 19, 2010 at his home with his wife and children by his side. George was born March 7, 1931 in Flora Dale son of the late George W and Helen (Black) Weaver, Sr. In 1949George graduated from Biglerville High School. He owned and operated Weaver Bus Services for 36 years. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Arendtsville. He served two terms on the church consistory, where he was also a deacon and an elder.He was a Scout Master for Cub Scout Troop 75 ofAspers anda Life Member of Aspers Fire Co. He served on the Opossum Valley Sewer Authority for 22 years. During the Korean War, he served in Germany, from 1950-1952, with the 28th Infantry Divisionof the US Army. He is survived by his wife Carolyn (Taylor) Weaverto whom he was married for 59 years; one daughter, Brenda L. Deardorff and husband Keith of Aspers, four sons; Gregory W. Weaver and wife Linda of Far Hills, NJ, Douglas L. Weaver and wife Bonnie of Aspers, Michael A. Weaver of Aspers, Timothy T. Weaver and wife Kim of Gettysburg, one sister, Gladys Hurley of Racine, WI, one brother, Donald Weaver of Aspers, eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be at Zion United Church of Christ, 22 Gettysburg Street, Arendtsville at 4:00 PM Thursday, January 21, 2010, Reverend Charles Slaybaugh officiating. Private interment will be in Wenksville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren Joshua Deardorff, Matthew Deardorff, Ryan Weaver, and Christopher Weaver.
