Gerald E. Blocher, age 86, formerly of Gardners, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at The Gettysburg Center. He was born Tuesday, June 9, 1931 in Gardners, the son of the late Clarence E. and Mae M. (Hoffman) Blocher. Gerald graduated from Biglerville High School in 1949. He was formerly employed by Messiah College on the maintenance staff for more than 20 years. He had also worked at Inland Container, Morton Buildings and Rice Fruit Company. He was a member of Chapel Hill Church of God, where he sang in the choir and served on the church board of trustees. His wife Ellen J. Blocher passed away on January 18, 2013. He is survived by two daughters, Jeanne L. and husband Brian Heinen of Cedar Grove, NC, Susan M. and husband Raymond Smart, of Hebron, CT, two sons, David G. and wife Claudia Blocher of Dummerston, VT, Timothy W. and wife Michelle Blocher of Fort Wayne, IN, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, one sister, Joanne Day of Gardners and one brother, Donald Blocher of Gardners, He was preceded in death by infant son Daniel E. in 1956 and sister Virginia Harbold. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, August 25, 2017 at Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., Bendersville with Reverend Randall Huber officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Hill Church of God, 4521 Oxford Road, York Springs, PA 17372 or VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove Hospice, 440 Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
