Gerald F. Slaybaugh, age 77 of Wister, OK, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at HJ Heinz Hospice Center Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Veterans Hospital. He was born Monday, September 29, 1941 in Aspers, the son of the late John E. and Anna A. (Waznica) Slaybaugh. Gerald “Jerry” graduated from Biglerville High School. He was employed as a senior maintenance supervisor for the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He was a life member of the VFW in Aztec, NM. He was also a member of the American Legion in Aztec. Jerry was an avid hunter and a life-time member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Federation. He served in the US Air Force, for over 20 years. He was deployed to several countries including Germany and England. He served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. He is survived by one daughter, Shelly R. Smedley of Poteau, OK, one son, Michael S. Slaybaugh, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Green of Gettysburg, PA. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Slaybaugh and Thelma Stoner. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 18 at Upper Bermudian Lutheran Church, 185 Ground Oak Church Road, Gardners with Reverend David Clark officiating. Interment will be in Upper Bermudian Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
