Glenn Hugh Walizer, Jr., age 91, of Chambersburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Providence Place in Chambersburg. Born on December 16, 1933, in his childhood home in Bellefonte, PA, he was the son of the late Glenn Hugh Walizer, Sr. and Mary M. (Harter) Walizer.
Glenn was a proud Bellefonte High School graduate of the Class of 1951. He attended Franklin and Marshall College and went on to attend Juniata College before answering the call to serve his country in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in France. Upon returning home, he embarked on a successful career with State Farm Insurance all over Pennsylvania, dedicating 33 years of service and retiring as an Agency Director in Delaware County, where he held designations in ChFC, CLU. Glenn married the love of his life, Selina "Sue" F. (Bernard) Walizer, and together they shared 62 wonderful years. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and adventure, as they raised three children and built a life rich in family, faith, and friendship.
Glenn was a member of Middle Spring Presbyterian Church in Shippensburg and a proud Mason. He was deeply involved in his community, especially during his years in the Harrisburg/Colonial Park area, where he coached Little League baseball. While living in the West Chester area, he made a significant impact as Vice President and later President of Concord Country Club.
A man of many interests, Glenn was an avid golfer, sports fan, reader, and world traveler. He loved playing Skip-Bo, sharing stories, and cheering for his beloved Penn State Nittany Lions, holding season tickets for many years. His enthusiasm for life was infectious, and he always encouraged those around him to find the good in every day. Upon retirement, Glenn and Sue moved to Sunset Beach, NC and continued there for 10 years before relocating to Chambersburg, PA.
Glenn is survived by his children, Jacci L. Hammaker of Chambersburg, Glenn "Rip" H. Walizer, III of Washington, PA, and Kit S. Glenn lived by a philosophy of optimism and gratitude, often reminding others that "every day is a good day—some days are just better than others." He believed in starting each morning by putting his feet on the floor and declaring, "It’s great to be alive!". His legacy of kindness, wisdom, and unwavering positivity will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
