Grayson P. Showers

Grayson P. Showers, age 99 of Aspers, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his home. He was born Tuesday, December 5, 1916 in Menallen Township, Adams County, the son of the late Edward E. and Beulah (Warner) Showers. Grayson owned and operated his fruit farm for many years. He also developed the Bear Mountain Subdivision and grew and sold Christmas trees. Grayson will be remembered for his true entrepreneurial spirit. He was a former member of the Knouse Foods Inc. Co-op, Upper Adams Fish and Game, and PA Farmers. Grayson was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. His wife, Oriola (Smith) Showers passed away in 1995. He is survived by three daughters: Linda K. and husband Eddie Cramer of Carlisle, Mary L. Richwine of Lakeland, FL, Anna J. and husband Joe Saum, of Aspers, three sons: Robert and wife Judy Showers of Carlisle, Freeman and wife Vickie Showers of Gardners, Paul R. and wife Lisa Showers of Aspers, a brother, Clair Showers of Aspers, 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three daughters: Donna Shreve, Sandy Showers and Bonnie Showers, a son Roland Showers, two sisters, Maybelle Starner and Sara Showers, and five brothers: Freeman, Mervin, Charles, Fredrick and Clyde Showers. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 15, at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Mazzie officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
