Harold R. Hostetter

Harold R. (Jack) Hostetter, Sr., age80 of York Springs, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Saturday, March 4, 1933 in Newport, the son of the late Homer O. and AddiMae (Richardson) Hostetter. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After returning from Korea, he worked for KW Tire in Gettysburg as a tire salesman. He then found his niche as a truck driver, driving for Motor Freight Express in York, where he drove for more than twenty years. Harold retired as a truck driver from Schrivner Trucking in York after many years of service. He was a member of Ira E. Lady American Legion Post 262 in Biglerville, VFW, Williams Grove Steam Engine Assoc., South Mountain Gas and Steam Engine Assoc., American Steam Engine Assoc., Steam-o-Rama in Windsor and Teamsters of York.Harold enjoyed his antique tractors, woodcrafting and Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He was also an avid hunter having spent many years in Clinton Co. hunting with his sons and grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara M. (Plank) Hostetter. He is also survived by three daughters: Patricia Mae Fogle of York Springs, Kimberly A. Fair of Bendersville, Cindy K. James of Bonneauville; two sons: Harold R. Hostetter, Jr. of York Springs and Mickey O. Hostetter of Gardners; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; four sisters: Betty J. Henry of Aspers, Joan Miller of Tarentum, Connie Altice of Gardners, Arletta Bream of Gettysburg; and one brother, Earl F. Hostetter, Sr. of York Springs. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm April 2 at Dugan Funeral Home, Bendersville with Reverend Randall Huber officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans, will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 pm until time of services.
