Harold R. "Uncle Harold" Leer, age 87 of York Springs, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Wednesday, July 23, 1930 in York Springs, the son of the late William and Mabel (Bream) Leer. Harold was employed by Wolf's Bus Lines from 1955 until January of 2016. He served as gas attendant, school bus driver, coach driver and generally assisted with the operations of the business. He also assisted his brother on the family farm. He loved to play bingo and operated the orange car and sold Christmas trees for the York Springs Fire Company, where he was a life member. He was also a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in York Springs. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Charlotte L. (Funt) Leer. He is also survived by one sister, Miriam Watkins of New Oxford, two brothers, twin brother Herman Leer of York Springs, Ivan Leer of Wheaton, IL and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Hinkle and Lorene Smith. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 28 at Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., Bendersville with Reverend Ben Leese officiating. Interment will follow in Heidlersburg Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of services. Harold's family would like to extend a special thanks to the Wolf Family.
