Harriet "Denise" D. (Harper) Rideout, age 67, of Shippensburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 3, 2021surrounded by her family at her home. She was born April 20, 1953 in Chambersburg, the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Sarah G. (Gaitor) Harper. Denise graduated in the Class of 1971 from Shippensburg High School. She served as Class President and was a cheerleader. She went to school at Millersville University and received an Associate’s Degree. She worked as an x-ray technician at Carlisle Hospital for a year and then Mechanicsburg Navy Depot for five years. She worked as a registered nurse at the Polyclinic Hospital and UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg. She also taught/trained CNAs at Dauphin Manor for two years. She was a member of St. Peter’s AMA Church in Shippensburg. Denise enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing the piano. She was also known for her talented dancing and singing abilities. Denise is survived by her loving husband, of 47 years, Marc J. Rideout, Sr. of Shippensburg; two sons, Marc J. Rideout, Jr. and Stephen A. Rideout, II, both of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Crystal Caraway of Harrisburg; one brother, Michael Harper of Chambersburg; two step-children, Justin J. Rideout of Chambersburg and Colleen Rideout of Delaware; brother-in-law, Stephen A. Rideout and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcaa Rideout Edrington; two brothers, Samuel V. and Eugene Harper and three sisters, Donna, Doris, and Beverly Harper. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. Private Memorial Services will be held at the discretion of the family. Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Chambersburg.
