Hellen A. Gochenour

December 14, 1928 — January 30, 2017

Hellen A. Gochenour, age 88 formerly of Biglerville, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Village of Laurel Run. She was born Friday, December 14, 1928 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Elmer L. and Norma I. (Stotler) Adams. Hellen was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg. She had worked in the daycare center of the church. Hellen had also worked at the Opportunity Center in Bendersville as a daycare provider and Wee Care Learning Center in Gettysburg. She provided foster care for many children in Adams Co. She was a member of the Gettysburg High School class of 1947, the Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 392 in Gettysburg, and Jobs Daughters Bethel No. 12 Gettysburg. She drove for meals on wheels in the Upper Adams area. She and her husband, Stanley R. Gochenour, Sr., loved to travel throughout the United States and internationally. Stanley passed away in 1988. She is survived by three daughters, Pegg J. Gardner of Biglerville, Donna G. Taylor of Biglerville, Deana L. Wolfe of Aspers, two sons, Stanley R. Gochenour, Jr. of Dover, Steven H. Gochenour of Biglerville, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas P.A. Gochenour in 2002, grandson Scott W. Taylor, Jr. in 1985 and her sister Margaret Weigle in 2014. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 4 at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Frederick Foltz officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church Child Care Scholarship Fund, 109 York Street, Gettysburg, PA. 17325.
