Henry "Hank" Janney, age 78, passed away, Friday, December 29, 2017, in Gettysburg. He was born Monday, November 6, 1939 in Baltimore, MD, to Ellen (Helm) and William Henry Janney. He married Linda Lookadoo Janney on May 15, 2010. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Baltimore. Hank served in U.S. Air Force from October 1961 to October 1965, and had a distinguished career in hydraulic engineering. He was the recently retired proprietor of The Arrow Horse music store in Gettysburg, from 1990-2012. His name was nearly synonymous with bluegrass music in Pennsylvania. From 1996-2012, Hank hosted shows on WGTY radio. He was a regular emcee at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival. Hank also hosted a weekly jam in his music store and carried all sorts of bluegrass instruments and accessories and CDs and served as the central gathering place for bluegrass fans and pickers in south central Pennsylvania. Hank is survived by his wife Linda Lookadoo Janney; daughter Lisa Janney Oster; son William Henry Janney; son David Carroll Janney; step-son Jonathan Lookadoo Mathews; granddaughters, Nicole Janney, Alina Janney, and Marie Janney; great-granddaughter Aurora Winn; first wife Kathleen Carroll Janney; and sister Elizabeth Janney Allen. A memorial service is planned for January 15 at 1:00 PM at Little Everett's Social Hall, 12 Elm Avenue, Gettysburg.
