Herbert “Dutch” W. Quackenbush, Jr., age 78, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill. He was born October 13, 1942 in Warwick, New York, as the son of the late Herbert W. Quackenbush, Sr. and Gladys Ruth (Drew) Quackenbush. Herbert graduated in the Class of 1960 from Warwick High School. He retired from working for the state of PA for over 20 years as a high voltage electrician. He enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time with his family. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for two years as a Deckhand on the USS Illusive during the Vietnam War. He is survived by a daughter, Starr E. (Daniel) Quackenbush of Shippensburg; three sons, Bret C. (Hetal) Quackenbush of Lakeland, FL, Wayne A. (Linda) Quackenbush of Port Richey, FL, and Darren T. (Bobbi) Quackenbush of Sacramento, CA; one brother, Gary W. Quackenbush of Zephyrhills, FL; five grandchildren, Amanda Starr Quackenbush, Bradley Wayne Ariola, Kyle Daniel Ariola, Ben Dakota Quackenbush, and Brandon Thomas Quackenbush; and one great-grandson, Mason Charles Ariola. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife in 2019, Starr E. (Quick) Quackenbush. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 28 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Mother Barbara Hutchinson officiating. Military honors provided by American Legion Post #223 will be conducted at the funeral home. A reception will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Shippensburg.
