Herbert A. Snyder, Jr., age 66, of Aspers, PA, passed peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 28, 1958, in Hanover, PA, he was the beloved son of Herbert Sr. and Romaine (Zinn) Snyder. Herbert is preceded in death by his parents.
Herb worked at RH Sheppard in Hanover for 45 years as a machinist making and repairing the forms used to make the molds for the castings in the foundry. Herb also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and lawn care. He leaves behind a legacy filled with love and devotion to his family, kids, grand kids and The Boy Scouts of America. Herb started in scouts with his son Jordan where he got into a leadership position including Scout Master. After his son Jordan aged out, Herb continued with his leadership duties for Boy Scout Troop 70. In addition, Herbert moved into the activity’s commission for the blue and grey district. He helped and grew to lead in the planning for the council wide scout events. He also helped scouts earn their Eagle award by doing merit badge counseling in his spare time. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Herb is survived by his loving children; a son, Jordan Snyder and a daughter, Erin Stinnett (Josh), his life companion, Hilda Seewald; a sister, Joanne Snyder and two grandchildren, Madison and Alexander Stinnet. Services for Herb have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville and will be held at the discretion of the family. Memorial contributions in memory of Herbert may be made to Boy Scout Troop 70, P.O. Box 486, Arendtsville, PA 17303 or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be left at www.DuganFH.com.
