Herman William Dixon, Jr.

Herman “Herm” William Dixon, Jr., age 97, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Paramount Nursing and Rehab in Fayetteville. He was born August 3, 1927 in Gardners, PA, as the son of the late Herman William Dixon, Sr. and Rosie R. (Starner) Dixon.

Herman graduated from Biglerville High School and immediately went into the Navy and served during World War II. After his career in the Navy, he worked at Metropolitan Edison for 42 years and retired as a Supervisor. He was a member of Centenary Global Methodist Church in Biglerville and a previous member of the Lions Club in Biglerville. In his spare time, Herm enjoyed golfing and fishing in his younger years and more recently flower gardening.

Herman is survived by his daughter-in-law, Donna R. Dixon of Biglerville; two granddaughters, Karen Morris and Amy Williams, both of Gettysburg; one step-grandson, Steven M. Szczesniuk of Biglerville; six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Ethel Marie (Beamer) Dixon, who passed September 10, 2023, two sons, Gregory Dixon, who passed January 25, 2023 and Dennis Dixon, who passed May 14, 2022 and two sisters, Dorothy Weaver and Helen Prosser.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Centenary Global Methodist Church, 99 North Main Street, Biglerville, PA 17307, with Rev. Gary Fanus officiating. A Public Viewing will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. A Procession will follow the services at the church to Wenksville Cemetery, Biglerville. Military Honors at the cemetery will be provided by Adams County Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may express online condolences at www.DuganFH.com.
