Hope A. Spertzel

Hope A. Spertzel, age 86 of Gettysburg, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Transitions Health Care. She was born Saturday, October 1, 1927 in South Middleton, Cumberland County, the daughter of the late Fremont and Reba (Wolf) Riley. Hope graduated from Biglerville High School. She was formerly employed by Dal-Tile for 20 plus years. Following her retirement, she volunteered for over 30 years at the Adams County Rescue Mission. She was a member of Idaville United Brethren in Christ Church. She was the devoted wife of 66 years and caregiver of her husband, Lloyd E. Spertzel who passed on July 18, 2014. She is survived by her son, David C. Spertzel and wife Barbara of Gettysburg, two grandchildren Alex and Niki and a sister, Shirley Flickinger of Gettysburg. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Funt and Betty Mayo. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Services will be held at the discretion of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Adams County Rescue Mission, 2215 York Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325 and Aseracare Hospice, 44 Bowman Road, York, PA 17404.
