Jack E. Stoops, age 83 of Arendtsville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Gettysburg Hospital with his family by his side. He was born Sunday, September 24, 1933 in Waynesboro the son of the late Glenn R. and Helen M. (Freshman) Stoops. Jack graduated from Waynesboro High School 1951. He retired from the Gettysburg School District as food service director after 25 years of service. He had previously worked for Waynesboro High School in food service management. He had owned and operated Jack's Catering in Gettysburg. After retirement, he moved to Tucson, AZ where he owned and operated a pressure washing business.He then returned to Adams County several years ago. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan, as well as an Arizona Univ. Wildcats fan. His first wife, Janet I. (Miller) Stoops passed away in 1991. He is survived by two daughters, Kathy J. and husband Phil Culp of Bendersville, Linda L. and husband Ron Brown of East Berlin, one son, Jeffrey L. Stoops of Highspire, four grandchildren, Cory Lockman of Hanover, Melissa Hoover of Aspers, Alyson Culp of Gettysburg, Diana Hinkel of Mechanicsburg, four great grandchildren, and one sister, Nancy Angle of Fairfield. Cremation services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Services will be held at the discretion of the family.
