Jackie F. Stewart, age 81, of Shippensburg, passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 20, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home in Shippensburg. He was born September 25, 1939, in Martinsburg, WV, the son of the late Mary V. Stewart along with Gilbert Butts. Jackie graduated in the Class of 1959 from Shippensburg High School. Jackie was drafted and served in the U.S. Army. He was self-employed for many years as a deck contractor. He was a member of the Greenvillage Church of God in Chambersburg and American Legion Post 421 in Newville. In his spare time, Jackie enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, making deer bologna, and spending time with his dog, “Furby”. Jackie is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janet L. (Hornbaker) Stewart of Shippensburg and three daughters, Darcey L. Moore and her husband, Sheldrick, “Valley”, Moore of Scottsdale, AZ, Tara L. Halter and her husband, Richard Halter, Jr. of Orrstown and Renee L. Duncan. Jackie was also known as “Pappy” by his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with one on the way. Professional Services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. A Public Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 23, at Parklawns Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, 3218 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg with Military Honors being provided by American Legion Post 223. A Public Visitation will be held at 12:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM at Greenvillage Church of God, 5164 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg with Pastor Matthew Tosten and Pastor Gary Hornbaker officiating. A Reception will follow the service at the church. Contributions may be made in Jackie’s memory to the Greenvillage Church of God, 5164 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA, 17202.
