Jacob Wesley McKee, 21 months old (1 year, 9 months and 15 days) passed away in his home on 07/22/2024. Affectionately known as "Bubby" & "Champ", Jacob fought with all he had even before the miracle of his birth. In all the 654 days he spent with us, he blessed us with so much; power, knowledge, strength and determination, but most of all love. Jacob's vocals weren’t always the clearest but they were distinct and when paired with his smile it created the most welcoming of atmospheres that would make anybody feel the warmest of love.
Jacob was born with an enchephalocele which set before him extraordinary hurdles, such as 14 cranial surgeries in his very first 97 days before coming home with mom (Justine Irvin) and dad (Wayne Mckee III). Days after Jacob's 1st birthday, he met his little brother Daniel Anthony Mckee. Jacob and Daniel would spend time talking back and forth, biting each other, and making memories of a strong brotherly bond. Jacob enjoyed watching cartoons especially Uncle Grandpa as well as “Westerns” with his dad, and more so after he got his hearing aids. Jacob always gave the tightest of hugs and tender snuggles for his mom. Jacob loved feeling different textures and vibrations but nothing could beat his fuzzy blankets that always surrounded him, as his love did for us.
Jacob touched everybody in such a special way. He had so many friends, family, therapists and even hospital staff that just absolutely adored him and cheered him on every step of the way with endless love. Jacob made enormous progress in therapies through Early Intervention Services weekly since coming home, along with enduring weekly doctors’ appointments. Through it all Jacob lived in love and harmony as if there was never a pain nor struggle in his day.
Jacob is survived by siblings; Camiran (15y), Madilyn (13y), Clayton (10y), and Daniel (9m); Grandparents; Mike Irvin and Catina Mellinger of Carlisle, Tina and Steve Yeager of Fayetteville, Wayne McKee, Jr. of Shippensburg, Great-Grandparents; Sharon and Larry Quigley of Carlisle, Robert Metzger of Pleasant Hall, Marlene Laughman of Newville, four uncles and three aunts. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother; Stephanie Marie Quigley of Newville, and Great-Grandmother, Della Mae Vogel of Shippensburg.
