James W. Bowers

James W. Bowers, age 92, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his home in Shippensburg surrounded by his loving family. He was born Tuesday, September 22, 1925 in Martinsburg, WV a child of the late Rennes F. and Helen V. (Mundorf) Bowers. James worked as an executive secretary for the Valley Mutual Insurance Company in Shippensburg. He was a member of the Shippensburg Presbyterian Church, Cumberland Valley Masonic Lodge #8315, American Legion in Shippensburg, VFW in Chambersburg, Good Times Dance Club and the Penn Mar Dance Club. He also enjoyed shooting pool with his friends. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret E. (McCune) Bowers, children, Barbe Jo Myers (Greg) of Shippensburg, Julle E. Bahr (David) of Chambersburg, Lory B. Naugle (Bill) of Shippensburg, Tod J. Bowers (Cathy) of Shippensburg, and Jody R. Wagner (Ned) of Hanover, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy B. Wright of Shippensburg, Phyllis Valentine of Shippensburg and Beverly Boofer of Bedford, IN. He is preceded in death by his son, Gil M. Bowers, his sister, Katheryn Doyle and brothers, Jack Bowers, Richard Bowers, and Rennes F. Bowers, Jr. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 11 at Dugan Funeral Home,51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Michael Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
