James C. Heller

James C. Heller, age 84 of Dillsburg, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 at his home. He was born Friday, May 14, 1934 in Biglerville, the son of the late Hobart N. and Beulah E. (Slaybaugh) Heller. Jim graduated from Biglerville High School in 1952. He retired from Kirk National Transportation, formerly DMI of Gettysburg. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dillsburg. He was a member of VFW of Dillsburg and Fairfield AmVets Post 172. Jim proudly served his county for over 25 years in the US Navy. He served during the Vietnam War era. He served on the USS Forrestal, USS Saratoga, and USS Enterprise as a plankowner. He attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer and his specialty was Aviation Boatswain's Mate. After retirement, he enjoyed watching sports. especially the Eagles and Phillies. He loved watching anything with a ball. He enjoyed tending to his backyard garden. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary R. (Shuyler) Heller. He is also survived by two daughters, Daphene L. Williamson of Pensacola, FL and Patti K. and husband Gene Sager of Dillsburg, one son, Mike Heller and companion Heather Levering of Dillsburg, four grandchildren, Melissa A. Coburger, Charles B. Williamson, Bradley W. Williamson, Amanda Sager, four great-grandchildren, Miles C. Coburger, Makhi F. Coburger, Malcolm S. Coburger, Jacob B. Williamson, one sister, Audrey Strehl of Portland, OR, and one brother, Clyde H. Heller of Biglerville, He was preceded in death by sisters Fern C. Abbott and Mary June Clark. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 8, at Dugan Funeral Home, with Deacon Peter Fotheringham officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans, will follow in Biglerville Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 1:00 PM until services. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairfield AmVets Post 172, 3600 Fairfield Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
