James A. Johnson, age 69 of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Chambersburg Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Friday, January 2, 1948 in Newville, the son of the late George L. and Marian (Weigle) Johnson. Jim attended Shippensburg High School. He attended Harrisburg Barber School in 1966. He then went to work at Affiliated Industries in Shippensburg and L'Aiglon Industries. He was a part-time barber from 1972 until he started full-time in 1984, until his retirement in 2014, due to his illness. He also had a seal-coat business with his brother, Fred. He was a member of VFW of Shippensburg and Minnequa Club. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and Caribbean Cruises. He also enjoyed being outside on one of his many tractors or his John Deere gator. Driving Mennonite families throughout the Shippensburg area was very meaningful to Jim, as was talking daily to his friends and family on the phone. He is survived by his wife, Linda J. (Rhone) Johnson, to whom he was married for two days shy of 45 years. He is also survived by two daughters, Kandy L. Johnson and companion Shawn Martin, Sr., and Krystal L. Johnson both of Shippensburg, a sister Joann L. and husband Charles "CL" Clouse of Newville, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred W. and Robert G. Johnson. He will be especially missed by his granddogs, Rolo and Tucker. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 27 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Kristin Rinehimer officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 PM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to an animal shelter of one's choice or perform a random act of kindness in Jim's name.
