James L. Patterson, Jr.

James L. Patterson, Jr., age 48, of Bendersville, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at York Hospital. He was born Monday, September 5, 1966 in Gettysburg, the son of James L. and Gloria A. (Gochenauer) Patterson, of Bendersville. Jim graduated from Biglerville High School in 1984. After graduation from high school, Jim was a supervisor at Mt. Orchard Co-op until 2000. In 1999, he graduated from HACC Public Safety Academy as a police officer. He was employed by Middlesex Township Police Department for 17 years. He began his career as a part-time officer in 1999. In 2000, he became a full-time patrolman with the department. He rose to the rank of corporal in September 2006 and sergeant in September 2011. During this time, he also served as a part-time officer and eventually chief of the Bendersville Police Department. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Laurie A. (Shreve) Patterson. He is also survived by a daughter, Chant� N. Patterson of Bendersville, a son, Justin W. and wife Jessica L. (Gray) Patterson of Camp Hill, two grandsons, Gabriel M. Grammes of Bendersville and Colton E. Patterson of Camp Hill, two sisters, Annette and husband Darren Fair of Biglerville and Michele and husband Hayden Gladfelter of Aspers. Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 5 at Bendersville Community Fire Company, 144 Park Street, Bendersville with Pastor Tony DeRosa officiating.
