James I. Rickrode

December 29, 1934 — April 4, 2017

James Ira Denton Rickrode, age 82 of Biglerville, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Thursday, December 20, 1934 in Mt. Holly Springs, the son of the late Ira Denton and Ruth (Dougherty) Rickrode. Jim retired after 43 years of truck driving. He drove for Inland Container and the Pallet Outlet, now IFCO, in Biglerville. He enjoyed going to sprint car and NASCAR races. He loved going to the beach, watching wrestling and football and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Gloria J. (Altice) Rickrode. He is also survived by his daughter, Deb Garman and companion JR Bohere of Lecanto, FL, stepdaughter Pamela and husband Randy Moritz of Orrtanna, stepson, Greg and wife Laura McDaniel of New Oxford, five grandchildren, Denny and wife Tiffanie Garman of New Oxford, Kurtis Weaver of New Oxford, Rylie McDaniel of New Oxford, Tyler and Tanner Moritz of Orrtanna, two great-granddaughters, Ava and Mya Garman of New Oxford, a sister, Francis and husband Donald Clark of Carlisle, and a brother, Franklin and wife Gail Rickrode of Carlisle. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Moody, Elsie Brady and Ellen Cramer. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 10 at Dugan Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Parr officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, April 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
