James W. Allen

James W. Allen, age 85, of Chambersburg, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born Friday, May 8, 1931 in Shippensburg, the son of the late Harvey W. and Mildred S. (Nicholson) Allen. Jim was formerly employed by Conrail in the Enola yard for 36 years. He was a member of Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46, Chambersburg, VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg, Eagles Club of Chambersburg, Minnequa Club, and HUB City Club. He served as a corporal in the US Army during the Korean War. His wife, Helen Allen preceded him in death. He is survived by two sisters, Sara Jane Allen and Mary A. Brandt both of Shippensburg, one brother, Alfred H. Allen of Chambersburg, and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Fridinger. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 30 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Dan Cluck officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Veterans' Council of Shippensburg. A viewing will be held Friday from 1:00 PM until time of services.
