Janet S. Diem

Janet S. Diem, age 85 of Shippensburg, passed away October 1, 2025 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born September 6, 1940 in Lancaster to the late Abram and Jennie (Snavely) Metzler. Janet was a member of Calvary Mennonite Church, she loved to travel and liked taking pictures, but most of all loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Melvin Diem; step-children, Marie Shaum and husband, Wilmer of Columbiana, OH, Lester Diem and wife, Dorcas of Lebanon, Mervin Diem and wife, Vera of Chambersburg, Eunice Wadel and husband, Nevin of Richfield, PA, David Diem and wife, Anna of Leetonia, OH, Glen Diem of Shippensburg and Wayne Diem and wife, Joyce of Shippensburg; 52 grandchildren and 92 great-grandchildren. Janet is also survived by her sisters, Anna Mae Martin and husband, Nelson of Lititz, Rachel Schwartz and husband, Michael of Reading and Jane Valentine and husband, Dick of Orrtanna; step-daughter-in-law, Voni Diem of Shippensburg; brother-in-law, Paul Musser of Bethel and numerous nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her step-son, Gene Diem; sister, Marge Musser; one grandson and three great-grandchildren.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Calvary Mennonite Church, 559 Overcash Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 10:00am at the church. Calvary Church Ministry will officiate the funeral. Janet will be laid to rest at the church cemetery.
