Janet L. Tarner

Janet L. Tarner, age 90 of Newville, passed away October 25, 2022 at Green Ridge Village. She was born May 6, 1932 in Lees Crossroads to the late William D. and Florence (Hanshaw) Brinkerhoff. Janet was widowed by her first husband, Herbert I. Guyer and second husband, Dick F. Tarner.


Janet attended Prince Street Church, loved flowers and plants, enjoyed doing activities at the Senior Center, walking and being with her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking and was a very good cook.


She is survived by her children, Judy Guyer-Knox of Shippensburg, William Guyer and wife, Anne Marie of Georgia, Ellen L. Guyer-Lake of Shippensburg and Richard F. Tarner of Texas; grandchildren, Corrina Kater, Jessica Minor and husband, Eric, Ashley Reeser, Dylan Schuhle, Eric Guyer, Nathan Guyer, Richie Tarner, Alexandra Tarner and Joshua Warren; great-grandchildren, Tylisha, Tyrell, Traevon, Kiah, Ryleigh, Coleman, Weston, Raina, Larry, Jase and Jenna and sister, Shirley LeDane and husband, Jim of Hanover. Janet is also survived by a son-in-law, Scott Schuhle. Janet was preceded in death by daughters, Shirley V. Guyer and Janice M Guyer-Schuhle; grandson, Brett Warren and sisters, Marybell Reed and Charlotte Commerer.


Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive Shippensburg. At the request of the family, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date. To leave a condolence for the family, please visit DuganFH.com.
