Janice E. Mellinger

Janice E. Mellinger, age 88, formerly of Hanover, passed away June 7, 2024 at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg. She was born May 1, 1936 in Gettysburg to the late Elmer S. and Helen I. (Cease) Mellinger.

Janice was a telephone operator for United Telephone, a former member of Orrtanna Methodist Church and member of Calvary Bible Church. Her father passed away before she was born and her mother passed away when she was eight years old, so her grandfather, John A. Cease, raised her in Orrtanna. She graduated from Fairfield High School.

After high school, Janice lived most of her adult life in Hanover. She had a strong faith and passed that on by being very active in the bible study group. Janice loved tea either at home, or in a tea house, reading and collecting books, traveling the US and abroad and enjoyed being with friends and helping them when they were in need. Her love of pets was evident with her having one or more pets at all times. She also enjoyed music and art.

She is survived by several cousins and many friends. Janice was preceded in death by her parents and her infant sister, Lois.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Good News Church of Orrtanna (formerly known as Orrtanna Methodist Church), 1717 Carrolls Tract Road, Orrtanna, PA, 17353. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service. Rev. Laura Rager-Bulger will officiate the Funeral. Janice will be laid to rest with her family at Flohr’s Church Cemetery, McKnightstown.
