Jean L. Rego

Jean L. (Painter) Rego, age 76, of Fayetteville, passed away at her daughters house with her family by her side the morning of January 7, 2010. Born April 3, 1933 in Chambersburg, PA; she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard and Dorothy (Reighter) Painter. She is survived by one sister Joanne Grant from Florida and an Aunt Mary Mickey of Chambersburg. She was preceded in death by six brothers Bruce, Bud, Kenny, Terry, Sonny, and Jan Painter. Jean graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1952. She worked for the Copper Kettle for 25 years and finally retired from Scotland School for Veterans Children in 1998 after serving 15 years as a house parent and supervisor. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing bingo and playing with her many great-grandchildren. She also loved to play cards with her children and grandchildren, especially when she won, which occurred most of the time. She dedicated her life to her family and her kids at SSVC. She was married to the late George M. Rego on March 15, 1952. She is survived by her six children; Donna Brookens and her husband Edward Ike of Fayetteville; William Bill Rego and his wife Holly of Fayetteville; Betty Strock and her husband Adam Jay of Chambersburg; Dennis Denny Rego of Chambersburg; Joanne Jody Seibert and her late husband Richard of Fayetteville; and Diana Dit Hutchison and her husband Derwin Butch of Chambersburg. She was preceded in death by two children, twins, one who passed away at birth and one, George Jr., who passed away at three days old. Jean was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Mickey. Visitation will be held at Chambersburg First Church of God, located on Grandpoint Road, Chambersburg, PA, at 5:00 pm and a service by Pastor Dan Keen at 6:00 pm on January 11, 2010.Dugan Funeral Home, Inc. assisted with arrangements.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to Lutheran Home Care Hospice, Inc. at 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202 or Jesus is the Light Community Church, P.O.
