Jerry A. Golter

June 14, 1946 — September 3, 2018

Jerry A. Golter, age 72 of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at his home. He was born Friday, June 14, 1946 in Campbell, NE, the son of the late Ervin and Velma (Noble) Golter. Jerry earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Nebraska. He was formerly employed by Letterkenny Army Depot and also the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. Jerry was a former principal and teacher at Mowersville Christian Academy. He also drove for the Amish school children in the area. He was a member of Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church where he served as a board member and president of the Golden Berean Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Lurgan Lions Club, and Durff-Kuhn VFW 6168 of Shippensburg. Jerry was an avid Cornhusker fan and Denver Broncos fan. He enjoyed all sports, gardening, golfing and reading. His faith was a very important part of his life. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife, of 42 years, Turann G. (Ormsby) Golter. He is also survived by three daughters, Kathy L. and husband Wally of Shippensburg, Kristy M. and husband Eric of Shippensburg, Saja E. of Upper Strasburg, five sons, Jerry L. and wife Robin of Shippensburg, Kevin A. and Gina of Shippensburg, Eric R. and wife Jackie of Newburg, Steve A. and wife Holly of Amberson, Anthony B. of Shippensburg, fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, twin brother, Gary Golter of Texas and sister Anita Johnson of North Dakota. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kyle Golter and Savanah Golter and brother, Ron Golter. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 8, at Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church, 14942 W. Creek Road, Newburg with Reverend David Haldeman officiating. Interment will be in Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church Cemetery. Military services will be provided by Oscar Hykes American Legion Post 223 of Shippensburg. A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services.
