Joan “Joanie” Marie Grubbs, age 87, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, surrounded by her family at her home in Biglerville. She was born June 19, 1937 in Charleston, WV, the daughter of the late James Andrew Malloy, Sr. and Carrie Elizabeth (Dikeman) Malloy.
Joan graduated valedictorian in the Class of 1955 from Charleston Catholic High School in Charleston, WV. She worked at RF Truesdell Company as a clerk for ten years. She was a marvelous wife to her husband and a wonderful mom to her four sons. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Biglerville and the Secret Neighbors group in her neighborhood. They were also involved in the packing and distribution of John’s Meals. Joan and her husband, Bob ran Jaycees Apple Syrup stand for 25 years at the National Apple Harvest Festival. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed card games, like Solitaire, reading, gardening in her flower garden and spending time with her family. She was known by her family and friends by her warm smile.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Robert “Bob” W. Grubbs, Sr.; four sons, Robert "Rob" W. Grubbs, Jr. and his husband, Sean Robishaw of Washington DC, Timothy M. Grubbs and his wife, Laurie of Biglerville, Kevin P. Grubbs and his wife, Lisa of Gardners and Sean P. Grubbs of Tampa, FL; brother, James A. Malloy, Jr. and his wife Sandra; four grandchildren, Kyle, Dillon, Dustin, and Lily; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Malloy and sisters, Mary Ann Malloy and Clara Malloy.
Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. Memorial Services will be announced at a later date.
